Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Words destroyed me.

“I’m sorry. She didn’t make it.”

“Daddy, he can’t breathe!”

“There’s nothing more we can do for your son.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Those syllables and letters became my executioner. I told myself that, if I didn’t acknowledge the pain and the fear, they would have no power over me. But, as the years passed, the hate and the anger left behind began to control me.

Two words—that was all it took to plunge my life into darkness.

“He’s gone.”

In the end, it was four soft, silky words that gave me hope of another sunrise.

“Hi. I’m Charlotte Mills.”

My Review –

4.75 The Light Stars!!

*I volunteered to review a Copy of this book from InkSlinger PR*

Thank you so very much InkSlinger PR!! I am extremely honored and grateful!! 🙂

After everything that happened in The Darkest Sunrise I absolutely had to get my hands on this installment!! I really loved it!! This one hit me even harder in the heart if that’s possible. I bawled my eyes out during certain parts, laughed, and got angry but the one thing that never went away for me was the hope. I connected with these character’s on such a deep level and in a way I haven’t ever experienced before. I felt ever ounce of what they felt to the point that it was as I’d been crushed to smithereens.

I had no idea what all was going to happen in this one. I was actually quite terrified to find out. I felt like I got an even better understanding of the hero and heroine. It was nice being back in their minds.

Ms.Martinez has done it again!! She always creates such realistic stories that really get to me in the best of ways. I didn’t want to let go of Charlotte, Porter, or any of these characters for that matter but I was anxious to find answers. It knocked me on my butt which if you think about it life does that to us a lot – we get hit with these curve balls that we don’t know what to do with – Do you we just stay down, do we plaster on a fake smile, or do we rise up to face everything head on? The choice is never easy, finding that light takes time but man how the view is worth it when you get there.

There were so many parts that I highlighted but this quote in particular stuck with me and I believe it always will. – “You have to embrace the good times or the bad times will always overwhelm you.”

If you haven’t already One-Clicked, What are you waiting for exactly?!?! Get this conclusion Today!! Haven’t started This Darkest Sunrise Duet? Change that because Porter and Charlotte’s story is not one to be missed!! If you are new to this duet that you will give it a chance. Remember, Don’t give up on the light. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did my fellow book lovers!! 4.75 Stars all around!! 🙂

You won’t want to miss this amazing series!

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
