My Review –
4.5 Guilt can eat you alive Stars!!
Thank you so very much Sassy Savvy Fabulous PR for sending me a copy of Surviving Regret!! I am honored and grateful!! 🙂
This was my first time reading Ms.Smith’s work and I really enjoyed this heartbreaking sports romance! But it’s so much more than that. It deals with tough subjects that many will be able to relate to such as losing someone you love and care about. It shows how precious life is and not one second should be taken for granted. It’s frustrating, sad, steamy, and raw. Surviving Regret is about how tragedy can turn people’s worlds upside down and pain lingers years after loss. My heart broke for these characters and I could not contain my emotions while reading. It’s deep and honest in the sense of how everyone deals with death in their own ways from everything to self destructive behavior to blocking out the past. Ms.Smith created a story that angered me and touched me at the same time which I loved! I can’t wait to check out more of her work! 🙂
A shining star can bring hope on the darkest of nights. . .
Macy Thomas was a character that was living a life full of happiness. Having a group of amazing friends and a wonderful boyfriend she had it all until one night when her world was torn apart. Years later it’s hard for her to block out the memories of the past and even harder to watch to man she loves self destruct. I really liked Macy but at some points in the story all I wanted to do was jump into the story and shake some sense into her. I understood her reasoning behind dealing with everything that happened on that tragic night. I hated that she put up with certain crap at times but I liked seeing the change in her as things progressed. I hoped that in the end she would be able to move forward, fix friendships, and get her happily ever after.
Landon Hayes was a character that was larger than life especially being a wide receiver. Being on the football team with his best friends and having a girlfriend that made his life better all of his dreams were coming true until life threw an unexpected curveball. Guilt ate him alive and haunted him daily years later after that horrific night. Numbing the pain is all that mattered and pushing others away was a must. I seriously disliked him for a long time while reading and wanted to punch him many times for his actions. I hated what he was going through and my heart broke for him but he needed a wakeup call. I hoped that in the end he could find his way out of the darkness, learn to live again, and redeem himself.
Will Macy be able to come to terms with everything that happened and still keep her heart intact? Will Landon be able to forgive himself and kill his demons before they take over his life over for good?
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that will make you want to throw your Kindle but at the same time hug it closely to your chest. You’ll get mad, you’ll cry, your heart will hurt, and last but not least you’ll realize you can overcome the odds even when you’re at your lowest. Surviving after a great loss isn’t easy and I think everyone will sympathize with that while reading. In my eyes there wasn’t just two main characters because I felt as if all the friends and families played important parts and I found that to be unique in a great way. This book won’t be leaving my mind for a long time and I’m glad! If you haven’t already One-Clicked it Buy it Today!! You won’t regret it!! 4.5 Stars all around!!! 🙂
