Miranda Rose absolutely lives for writing. Unfortunately, there aren’t many readers that live for her books.
At least she can distract herself from bad reviews with her favorite hobby – trolling Charlie Shivers online. That dinosaur smut peddler wouldn’t know literature if it mounted him from behind. And, for further distraction, she meets the world’s hottest guy at her favorite writing conference, and when he mounts her from behind, she forgets all about that wannabe author.
Until she realizes Mr. Hottie Pants isn’t the cover model she’d presumed. He’s her archenemy in the flesh, Charlie Shivers.
And yet she still can’t keep her pants on around him.
Joe McCoy, aka Charlie Shivers, is over the moon attending his first Romancing The World conference as a panelist, especially when he meets the smoking author at the bar. But now that he’s discovered the true identity of his one-night stand, he’s tangled in a sticky web, thicker than a spider shifter (dibs on writing that one next!)
Though, sleeping with the enemy is kind of hot.
But then he finds himself falling hard for the too-serious novelist, and now he’s pretty sure there’s no way he’ll make it out on top.
My Review :
Thank you so much Social Butterfly PR for sending me a copy of Topped!! I’m very honored and grateful!! 🙂
4.5 I will never look at dinosaurs the same again Stars!!
This book was all kinds of funny, weird, sweet, and completely entertaining! This was my first time reading anything by Ms.McGee and i hope to read Undcovers very soon!! I was laughing so hard at some points my belly ached and i couldn’t control it which made me love this book even more! I wasn’t sure what to expect exactly when first heading into the story and boy was i in for a huge surprise.
The tension and secrets kept me glued to my kindle. To say i was shocked a lot would be an understatement and some of the things that happened left me with my jaw dropping on the floor. The way the story dealt with a love/hate relationship rather than just the normal full on love relationship kept things fresh and it made me giddy even when the two main characters fought because of the way they did it. Dinosaurs and Trump will never be the same in my eyes and whenever either of them pop up in the future i will always think of Topped.
Ms.McGee sure knows how to make me laugh and the some of the situations she put her characters in left me smiling but in others i was like “Oh Crap, did that just happen?”. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future especially after that Epilogue! I’m still freaking out because of it! The way the author shined a light on how those who have the courage to write, have dedication to their craft, and put their work out their are some truly amazing people no matter how short or long the stories that they create are.
I’ve always said to others that you never know whose heart you’ll touch with your words and whose mind your story will get lost in which is perfectly portrayed in this book. I felt like this book gave a voice to all types of readers and how we all have different opinions but that’s what makes books so beautiful. Also, the way the characters are authors and everything takes place in the literary world made me so stinking happy and i loved feeling as if i was getting an inside look on what authors face on not only a daily but yearly basis.
Miranda Rose was a character who put everything she had into her writing especially her heart and soul. Not getting the kind of reaction she had hoped for in the book community she’s trying her best to come up with a story-line that will blow others away. She truly cares about the writing process and what goes into it so when others seemingly throw together something labeled a “book” especially when it’s her arch enemy Charlie Shiver’s it angers her tremendously. She was so funny and i really enjoyed what was going through her head while she was writing.
Her obsession with Wine was something quite comical. I loved her friendship with her neighbor Jane and all of the conversations that they had. Miranda’s views on being an author was interesting to read and it was nice to see that she believes in writers block! The devotion to her work was something very admirable and the way certain occurrences inspired her to write was something very cool in my opinion. She stood up to others that’s for sure.
Joe McCoy was a character that wrote short and out of the box stories about random sexcapades some of which involved dinosaurs. At first i truly disliked him and i was afraid my disdain for him would make me hate the story. Thankfully, i came around to his character and became able to fully get into the story. By him having his own point of view i got to understand him better and find out if he was just a jerk or if there was more to him than that. He surprised me a lot and i kept wondering what exactly his intentions were. Joe was arrogant and all kinds of cocky.
Yes, he deserved to be smacked a few times, maybe more. He very slowly grew on me and i respected him more as the story progressed. The friendships he had with his guy friends cracked me up and i can’t help but repeat bro over and over again as i’m writing this review don’t ask why i’m random like that haha. The way he cared about his fans and truly cared what they thought really stuck with me. Even though i judged him hardcore at first i’m glad he redeemed himself in my eyes.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that is so weirdly amazing that you will be laughing days after reading! It’s something different and the right dash of sweetness to it made for one great story! It messed with my mind and at times i really couldn’t believe some of things that happened. This book is one unique journey and i loved it a lot! If this sounds like your kind of story and if the cover hasn’t already made you buy it then what are you waiting for? Because holy cow that is one hot cover but what’s inside of the book is even hotter and sweeter to boot! Go and One-click Topped today to see why Ms.McGee is the queen of everything funny and weird. Weirdness rocks and this story is full of it! I hope you like this one as much as i do!! 4.5 Stars all around!! 🙂
