My Review :

Thank you so much Forever (Grand Central Publishing) / Hachette Book Group for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! I’m very honored and grateful!! ❤

5 Cuff Me Mr. Moretti!!!

I’ve honestly never read a book about detectives or even the police force for that matter and now i think i’m addicted! This story is filled with mystery, suspense, humor, romance, and so many parts where there’s a lot of frustration for the reader but that’s when you know you’ve become so invested into the story that the characters matter to you which led me to loving this book even more if that’s possible.

I really adored that this was different and ventured off from my usual reads. It was just what i needed and i hadn’t even realized it. Ms. Layne pulls you into a world of murder and crime solving that has so much heart as well as realness to it you forget the world for awhile because you are so engrossed into the story. I’m sad to say this is my first book by her but i’m ecstatic to say that this won’t be my last.

Jill Henley was a very tough character who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty while solving murders as a homicide detective. Her humor and her outlook on love was what drew me in instantly. She didn’t do things half way and was always determined to figure out who committed the murders and finding out why they did it. Jill is one of those characters that make you feel that you can do anything you set your mind to and don’t have that fear weighing you down.

She aggravated me at some points because she would bite her tongue on things she truly wished she could say. I’m glad as the story progressed she got out of that and put everything on the table. Her relationship with Vincent and her relationship with his family warmed my heart. It’s so awesome to see a family welcome someone as their own with open arms.

Vincent Moretti was a character that was so stubborn and hard headed as a mule. I couldn’t quite figure him out at first and i wasn’t sure if i ever could. He held his own as a Detective at the NYPD alongside partner Jill Henley. To say it was hard to express his feelings or even formulate what they were to himself is an understatement. The deeper i got into the story i started to fall for him and not in the normal book boyfriend way even though he’s a new favorite one of mine in that department but in the way his character just touched my soul with his dealings of inner turmoil and how he didn’t always know what to say or when.

When i read his parts i felt like i could see a piece of him in myself and that rarely happens when i read the males POV but i was happily surprised. I’m glad he finally got the courage to explain his feelings after six years. Vincent’s relationship with Jill and his relationship with his family were both beautiful things.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a love story that involves murder, long car rides, coffee, maple bars, unshared feelings , and relationship that’s more deeper than just being partners. Go One-click this amazingly suspenseful read today!! I hope you love it as much as i do!! 😀 Now i need to go and try a maple bar after reading this book. 5 Stars all around!
