Review : This is War, Baby By K. Webster

Synopsis :

My life had a plan. Until he invaded it and stole it all away. My captor took me and I became a pawn.

His strategy changed and he sent me away to WAR, because money is everything in this world.

In my WAR, though, I found peace.

I couldn’t help but find love where I least expected it, with a man who lived a battle every day of his life
…all inside his head.

But then my captor came back for me.
Yet, this time, battle lines had been drawn and I was protected.

So we thought.
Even though my WAR was raging,
my captor would fight to the death.

The good guys always win, right?
Not always.

All’s fair in love and WAR, right?
Not this time.

This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone.

My Review :

* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*

A big Thank You goes out to the lovely K. Webster for sending me an ARC of this book. I’m beyond grateful and honored!! 🙂

5 Jaw Dropping stars!

Holy cow!! This is probably one of the hardest reviews I’ve ever had to write due to the fact the book left me speechless in such a good way. It’s dark, crazy, sweet, shocking, and so twisted it might just scare you. It seriously tugged on my heart strings and kept me on my toes to the point where I pulled an all-nighter just to see how it ended which is very rare for me and well worth the lost hours of sleep. This book was a non-stop roller coaster from page 1. I’m serious, there are no slow parts in this book and it’s so incredibly refreshing! Just when I thought I had everything figured out I didn’t. There are so many twists and turns that left me staring at my kindle in shock. It messed with my mind and I totally loved it. The ending truly gutted me though and i need the next book as soon as it comes out!

Baylee was a character that pretty much anyone can relate to and as she went through so many anguishes throughout the story my heart broke for her. I wanted to reach into the book and take her away from the horrifying situation she was in. I loved how her strength progressed with each chapter and that no matter how many horrible hands she was dealt and felt like she wanted to give up, she didn’t. To sum her character up into one word i’d have to say she was a fighter. Her relationship with War made me so happy and i liked her character even more when she decided to help him overcome the things that race through his mind.

War (Warren) is officially one of my book boyfriends. Seriously, I wanna be his Peace. I loved how when we first meet him he’s battling so many demons but more time spent with Baylee and how she’s determined to scare them away we see a whole new side to War. The author truly surprised me with the way she addressed mental disorder’s many of us deal with on a regular basis and I really appreciate her shedding a light on the subject and fully showing the harsh battles people face. War is such a heartbreakingly beautiful character and the inner turmoil he goes through every second of every day is so terrifying.

What can I say about Gabe? I hated him to the point where I wanted to punch him over and over again. He is so evil and cruel. War’s dad Land is so sweet and it truly warmed my heart the way he treated Bayley.

Have you already 1-clicked this bad boy? If not go do it now! If you are looking for a dark read that will stay with you for days after you finished the last chapter than this is the book for you! Please read the blurb / warning first though because this may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I highly recommend it!!!! 🙂
